The film Fétiche 33-12 is the original version conceived of by Ladislas and Irène Starewitch before suffering distributor cuts.
In 1933, Ladislas and Irène Starewitch produced and directed a film of about 1000 meters tentatively entitled for lab purposes, « L.S. 18 ».
Under pressure from the distributors, the length was greatly reduced. This film became Fétiche Mascotte/ The Mascot, of about 600 meters in length, the first episode of a series, and distributed in 1934.
In 1954, L. Starewitch created Gueule de bois (The Hangover), using leftover images from « L.S. 18 » from Fétiche Mascotte. Recently, we took to putting the original film back together from a series of reeles of The Mascot distributed in the UK and the USA, and from the negative of Gueule de bois, as well as from rushes kept in the archives of L. and I. Starewitch.
In 2012, « L.S. 18 » fond once again its 1933 length and editing, hence the title Fétiche 33-12.
